Other Info: South African species. In the wild it grows on the fringe of indigenous forests as well as in shady areas often near streams. This species is exceptionally large at maturity and definitely would not be suitable as a house plant unless you have a mansion with a shady room in it.
Annie & Guy's Comments: We tracked this scented pelargonium specie down as we have many Followers who collect large species types. Pelargonium papilionaceum is a monster of a scented geranium and is not one for the novice or faint hearted. It is a tough plant that needs to be well maintained to do really well. An acquired taste for the initiated - this is what makes growing scented geraniums so addictive - they are all different from each other.
